China es, con gran diferencia, el mayor cultivador mundial de tomate, seguido de India, Turquía y Estados Unidos - la mayor parte de la cosecha mundial se procesa en puré, salsa y tomate en conserva en lugar de venderse fresco. El precio mostrado aquí es la serie de referencia del FMI (precios minoristas franceses, usados como referencia internacional estándar porque los tomates no tienen un mercado de futuros relevante) - una cifra orientada al consumidor, a diferencia de la mayoría de los demás precios que se siguen aquí.
