Wie dieses Jahr im Monatsvergleich zum typischen Muster der letzten Jahre für die gewählte Region abschneidet.
"Welt (Referenzpreis)" ist der globale Referenzpreis (World Bank Pink Sheet, monatlich seit 1960, soweit verfügbar). EU-Optionen sind die wöchentlichen Referenzpreise der Europäischen Kommission selbst. Die Option "USA" ist die monatliche nationale Zahl von USDA NASS. Die Währungsumrechnung nutzt monatliche EZB-Referenzkurse seit 1999 (manche Währungen kamen später dazu) — zum Vergleich gedacht, keine präzise historische FX-Buchhaltung. "Bushel" nutzt das USDA/CBOT-Standardtestgewicht für Gerste (21.77 kg) — ein Bushel ist ein festes Gewicht, das je Getreideart variiert, kein festes Volumen. "Inflationsbereinigt (real)" rechnet jeden historischen Preis auf die Kaufkraft des jüngsten verfügbaren Monats um, mithilfe des US-Verbraucherpreisindex CPI-U (Consumer Price Index for All Urban Consumers, nicht saisonbereinigt) — unabhängig davon, in welcher Währung der Preis angezeigt wird, da der CPI-U das allgemeine US-Preisniveau misst, keinen Wechselkurs. Ein grober, gängiger Weg, Preise über Jahrzehnte zu vergleichen, kein Ersatz für einen rohstoff- oder länderspezifischen Deflator.
Über Gerste
Wird hauptsächlich als Viehfutter sowie zum Mälzen und Brauen (Bier und Whisky) verwendet. Zu den Hauptproduzenten zählen die EU, Russland, Australien und Kanada. Braugerste (die strengere Keim- und Proteinvorgaben erfüllen muss) wird mit einem echten Aufschlag gegenüber Futtergerste gehandelt, sodass dieselbe Ernte je nach Qualität zwei unterschiedliche Preisstufen hervorbringen kann. Der Handel ist auch politisch angreifbar — Chinas Antidumpingzölle auf australische Gerste von 2020, erst 2023 wieder aufgehoben, schnitten Australien für mehrere Jahre von seinem bis dahin größten Einzelexportmarkt ab. Die Preise folgen tendenziell Mais und Weizen, da sich die drei Getreidesorten in der Tierfutterration gegenseitig ersetzen können.
