Sobre el cacahuete (maní)
Una legumbre cultivada para consumo directo (tostado, mantequilla de cacahuete) y procesada en aceite de cacahuete. China, India y Nigeria son los mayores productores, aunque la mayor parte de la cosecha se consume internamente en lugar de comercializarse a nivel internacional. La aflatoxina — una toxina producida por mohos que prosperan en condiciones de almacenamiento deficiente y humedad — es un problema persistente de seguridad alimentaria y comercio específico de los cacahuetes, y los envíos de exportación se analizan de forma rutinaria para detectarla, lo que puede limitar los orígenes de los que los compradores están dispuestos a abastecerse.
