À propos de l'arachide (cacahuète)

Une légumineuse cultivée pour la consommation directe (grillée, beurre de cacahuète) et transformée en huile d'arachide. La Chine, l'Inde et le Nigeria en sont les plus grands producteurs, bien que la majeure partie de la récolte soit consommée localement plutôt qu'échangée à l'international. L'aflatoxine - une toxine produite par des moisissures qui prospèrent en cas de stockage médiocre et d'humidité - est un problème persistant de sécurité alimentaire et de commerce propre à l'arachide, et les cargaisons destinées à l'exportation y sont couramment testées, ce qui peut restreindre les origines auprès desquelles les acheteurs acceptent de s'approvisionner.
