About Oats

Grown for human food (oatmeal, porridge, oat milk) and animal feed, especially horses. Russia, Canada and Poland are the largest producers, with Canada the dominant exporter — oat milk's rise as a dairy alternative has added a new source of demand alongside the traditional breakfast-cereal and feed markets. Oats also carry an official cholesterol-lowering health claim in both the US and EU (from their soluble fibre, beta-glucan), a rare case of a specific nutrition regulation feeding directly into demand for a commodity tracked here.
