About Chickpeas

India grows and eats more chickpeas than the rest of the world combined - they're a dietary staple there (dal, chana). Australia and Turkey are the main exporters supplying the rest of the world's demand, which has grown quickly as chickpeas became a popular plant-protein source in hummus and packaged foods outside South Asia.
