About Natural Rubber

Tapped from rubber trees, mostly in Thailand, Indonesia and Vietnam - though Côte d'Ivoire has expanded so fast it now rivals Indonesia as the world's second-largest exporter. Around 70% of natural rubber goes into tires, so prices track car and truck production closely, and compete with oil-derived synthetic rubber - a cheaper substitute when crude oil prices fall. Weather during the tapping season and Southeast Asian labor availability are the main supply-side swing factors.
