About Groundnut Oil

Vegetable oil pressed from groundnuts (peanuts), used for cooking and, in some regions, biodiesel. India and China are the largest producers and consumers. It's a minor player in the global vegetable oil complex by volume compared with palm, soybean and sunflower oil, but commands a real premium in Indian, Southeast Asian and some West African cuisines for its high smoke point and nutty flavor, and in Western markets as an allergen-labeling-relevant specialty oil. Prices move with the broader vegetable oil complex, competing with soybean, palm and sunflower oil.
