How it is calculated
Each crop has a standard bushel weight (table below). Bushels per tonne = 1,000 kg ÷ kilograms per bushel, and a price per tonne = price per bushel × bushels per tonne. Example: corn weighs 25.4 kg per bushel, so a tonne is 39.37 bushels, and 4.5 dollars per bushel equals 177.16 dollars per tonne.
